The Changes

The furniture bid in Google went down to .19 from .23 and the new All the Sofas ads were taken out for click through and conversion reasons.

The yahoo furniture bid was dropped to .21 from .23

Yahoo Stuff

I pulled three ads from the Yahoo Sofas Campaign today. 2 that were going to a sofas specific landing page and one that was going to the home page. I used bounce rate statistics to make the decision.

As far as making similar changes in Google. Google searchers like the home page better than the landing pages. So we're sticking with it...

I'll be watching the furniture campaign bid price in both Google and Yahoo tomorrow to see if we need to drop the bid even more to keep costs in line. I'll be checking out the other campaigns as well to keep things in check. Any ideas would be great.

SIDE NOTE: Click the "Add to Google" button if you have a personalized Google home page and would like to see updates posted there.

Furniture Campaign

The bid change in the furniture campaign produced a noticeable change in position and cost for both the Yahoo and Google networks. I continuing to track the bounce rate differences for the sofas campaign landing pages.

Bid changes were made in the following on Google:

Furniture from .27 to .23

Sofas from .32 to .29

Sofa from .33 to .29

In yahoo Furniture went from .27 to .23 as well

Ad stuff

3 changes today:
  1. The landing page in Google sofas campaign is now index.cfm instead of /sofas/index.cfm.
  2. Yesterday, Blaine added a new headline... "All the Sofas" to the sofas campaign in Google. It received good click-throughs so we added a new ad that combined the new headline with pet-proof, washable and storage text.
  3. In the Yahoo Sofas campaign there was a bounce rate difference between ads containing similar text but different display urls and landing pages. The sofas 3 ad, which does not include the /sofas in the display url and goes to the home page had a bounce rate of 23%. The sofas land 3 ad which does contain the /sofas in the url and goes to the sofas landing page had a bounce route of 8.6%. The time period was from 09-Jan-2007 to 12-Jan-2007. The sofa land 3 ad had a lower click through so I removed the /sofa part of the display url to test the bounce and conversion rate.

Chesterton coming right up.

Ok... I'll have to re-read what I read last night... He was talking about the distinctions among the various religions starting with the common fallacious phrase that, (I'm paraphrasing here) All religions differ in their customs but are the same in content. Chesterton sees right through this and demonstrates the opposite, that all religions are essentially the same in custom but differ in content. There's a heap of surprising examples of how this is so. I'll post my favorites when I can.

Where's Chesterton?

Hey...how's come there isn't a big rant about chesterton in here?

Back in the Swing

Just back from vacation and out of the box I pull a couple of ads. One in the furniture campaign and one in the sofa campaign. I also dropped the bid in the furniture campaign to .27.

We've noticed an avalanche of traffic from everywhere including the updated Yahoo system. As a result it was time to look at things and clean out the stinkers to keep costs down.

Yes, it's been a bit since the last post. Onward and upward. ATS

P.S. I got rid of the exact same ad in the Yahoo furniture campaign and change the bid from .29 to .27
