Hmmm. A break in the silence

Did a conversion report for the month todate and found a couple of missing words in an ad that might be significant. The wording in the current singular 'S' ad says "500 S's starting at $299. Pet-proof fabrics & storage space!" and is not doing well. The previous ad wording that prompted me to create the singular S campaign was; "500 S's start $299. Discover the pet-proof fabrics & storage space!" So I just added it into the rotation to see if there is a significant increase in conversions.

'C o u c h e s'

Keyword 'c o u c h e s' has been performing well for us both in the Google and in Yahoo campaigns the last couple of days. We've received the best performance from ads that talk about 'p e t - p r o o f _f a b r i c s' and 's t o r a g e _s p a c e'.

There is a clear loosing ad in the C's campaign that uses the words, 'W a s h a b l e _f a b r i c & _b u i l t - i n _s t o r a g e' that I am going to delete today. That same ad did poorly in the 's o f a s' campaign but does well in the 'f u r n i t u r e' campaign. Interesting.

Again there was an almost negligible change in ad position yesterday for the 's o f a' and 's o f a s' campaign as a result of the bid price change that happened on the 15th. Good news for the total cost on the day's clicks with no significant change in traffic to the site from Google.

Observations

Yesterday's drop in bid price seemed to work to our advantage. There was no significant change in position or click volumes, (we'll see what happens today) but a sizeable shift in cost, (something close to $200.00 less on the day's clicks).

The bounce rate for the index page on non-campaign generated traffic seems to be climbing a bit (it has been holding arround the high 'teens and low twenties but was up to 26% yesterday.) My thought on this is that as we get better rankings for our keywords we're going to see a jump in traffic (new visits) but a corresponding jump in bounce rates.

That's it for now.

Ad Changes

Today I reduced the bids on a couple of keywords. Click volumes and costs were climbing a bit and conversions dropped so I thought I'd move the positions down. I dropped the bid $.05 on keyword 's o f a' and $.04 on 's o f a s' (I added the spacing so this post doesn't start getting ranked in Google.)

We're getting ranked really well for keyword 'c ou ch es' so I'll be watching the organic traffic to see what happens with bounce rates, page views and conversions.

Nothing big today.
